First Batch Of Assam Leaves For Gujarat
SPORTS REPORTERGUWAHATI: The first batch of the Assam contingent, Lawn Bowls team, left for Gujarat today to take part in the 36th National Games. The team of lawn bowls players will start their campaign in the competition on September 28. Lawn Bowls is one of the events where Assam is expecting a good number of medals. Last time, the event gave seven medals to Assam which included three golds. Two of them were won by Nayanmoni Saikia. The star performer is also in the team this time and is ready to display a good show. Talking to The Sentinel Nayanmoni expressed hope that the team is capable of repeating the performance of the last edition of the Games. "Most of our team members are very experienced, and we also have a few young players who are highly talented," she said. It may be mentioned here that Nayanmoni won two gold medals each from the last two editions of the Games. "I will try my best to win medals from Gujarat also," said the Commonwealth Games gold medalist. Altogether 181 players from Assam will compete in 21 disciplines in the mega event which will be inaugurated on September 29.
