The discovery could mean that the legendary Fen Tiger could actually exist and unsurprisingly our readers have had a lot of opinions about it. Commenting on Facebook , CambridgeshireLive readers seemed to be pretty split on whether the famous Fen Tiger is truth or fiction. No one could quite agree on whether the Fen Tiger can be believed or not. But perhaps the most surprising thing is how many people claim to have genuinely seen a wild cat in Cambridgeshire . While you may expect one or two people to have claimed to see the Fen Tiger over the last decade a surprising number of our readers say they've had a brush with the big cat. Of course, however, the majority of readers commented on the 'obvious' fiction of wildcats roaming the Cambridgeshire countryside. Most people seemed to be pretty convinced that the Fen Tiger is a ridiculous imagining albeit a fun one to laugh about. Read more: The terrifying ghostly black dog that used to haunt Cambridgeshire A-road Many commenters like Paul Forder, Philippa Jones and thirteen others simply said: "Tabby" or "It's a cat." Okay, that's a pretty common explanation and it's definitely not out of the question. Chuck Dingman went even further to joke that the photo of the mysterious Fen Tiger was clearly another famous mysterious creature: "Clearly Big Foot in a Fen Tiger suit." However, not all commenters were joking along with the news. Some readers even claimed to have experienced sightings themselves! The big cat is rumoured to roam the Fens Scott Weeman said: "It's crazy how many people don't think the puma or panther exists. I've seen it in Baston and Ramsey, probably not same one." His confession got quite a reaction. Graham Elliot replied to Weeman: "If there was even a shred of evidence to support your so-called sighting then authorities would have deployed people to either catch it or kill it a long time ago." Martin Perryman also replied to Weeman's confession. He said: "They exist, but not in the British countryside. People claim they see them but there is never a photo that isn't either a black cat or a fox." However, Scott Weeman wasn't the only one who claimed to have had a sighting of their own. Another Facebook said: "In the nineties I used to walk my dog at the end of Bateman street across Trumpington road on the green by the river twice a day. One evening, while walking back towards Trumpington road I saw two yellow eyes twinkling from a tree above. Suddenly a big shape, bigger and longer than a goat jumped down and crossed the footpath in a flash. In the dark I could just see a big black shape resembling a big cat." Scott Peachey also had several of his own sightings. He said: "They are out there. I've seen two four years apart in Beds, one tan and one black. No doubt!" With a lot of arguments back and forth in the comments over whether the Fen Tiger is just mistaken tabby cats, a black fox or actually does in fact exist, it seems Cambridgeshire Live readers can't agree if it is more than just fiction.
